Diagnosis: This species has the frontal plate glossy in appearance, brown smoky suffusions on the wing and the trifoliate process with the median piece being strongly dilated, having a deep “u” shaped emargination. The hypopygial prominence appears quite complex ( Fig. 64d View Figs 64–68 ) when viewed dorsally.
Type material examined: Holotype ♂: ‘ E. Africa [ KENYA]; Mt. Kenya , Ragati, 6800ft [2073 m], 25.viii.1949, J.A. Riley’ ( NHMUK).
Other material examined: SOUTH AFRICA : KwaZuluNatal: 1♂ 10 mi. N Jozini, 800 ft. [244 m], Dry forest , 28.xi.1971, M.E. Irwin & B.J. Irwin ( NMSA); 1♂ Umhlatuzi, 6.iii.1954 ( NMSA) .
Distribution: Angola, Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, South Africa (new), Uganda.
