Members of this group share the following character states: mentum with sides 6 rounded; tooth narrow and not reaching apices of lobes, paramedian foveal pits indistinct or small; lateral depressions with impressed meshed microsculpture; disc of pronotum with indistinct meshed microsculpture; posterior angles of pronotum right to obtusely rounded, denticulate in some species; elytra without orange spot at apical fourth around suture; elytral microsculpture striate, lines indistinct; epipleuron with subapical plica; metasternum and metepisternum with punctures; metasternum without or with very shallow constriction medially at level of posterior edges of mesocoxae; tarsomeres 5 without setae underneath; endophallus with sclerotized ring; body size medium to large (SBL ¼ 7.6–11.5 mm).
Ten Nearctic species are placed in this group. Loxandrus yeariani Allen, 1972 , known only from the type locality along the Pacific coast of Mexico, possibly belongs to this group (see Allen and Ball 1980:506) .
