Members of this group have the following character states: mentum with sides rounded, tooth not reaching apices of lobes, paramedian foveal pits small; lateral depressions of pronotum widely explanate posteriorly, partly with meshed microsculpture; disc of pronotum with indistinct meshed microsculpture; posterior angles of pronotum widely rounded; anterotransverse impression of pronotum widely indistinct medially; elytra without orange spot at apical fourth around suture; elytral microsculpture striate, lines indistinct; epipleuron with subapical plica; metasternum (laterally) and metepisternum with punctures; metasternum with shallow but distinct constriction medially at level of posterior edges of mesocoxae; tarsomeres 5 without setae underneath; endephallus with sclerotized ring; body size large (SBL ¼ 10.7– 12.3 mm).
This group includes a single, large, characteristic species, restricted to the southeastern United States.
