This taxon was described from an unspecified number of specimens collected at «Tampa [Florida]». LeConte’s collection in MCZ contains six specimens under that name, four labelled «Tampa Fla», the other two simply «Fla». Only those labelled «Tampa Fla» should be considered as syntypes. One of these specimens, a female labelled «Tampa 28.9 Fla/Type 5692/ Loxandrus reflexus Lec [handwritten]» is herein selected as the lectotype and the label « Lectotype Loxandrus reflexus LeConte des. Y. Bousquet 2004» has been added .
The lectotype (SBL ¼ 11.9 mm; ABL ¼ about 13.0 mm) is conspecific with specimens of L. saphyrinus (Chaudoir, 1843) [ NEW SYNONYMY]. See comment under L. lateralis Casey .
