22. Loxandrus vulneratus Casey, 1918:390 View in CoL
This taxon was described from an unspecified number of specimens collected in « Indiana ». Casey’s collection in USNM contains one specimen under that name, a female, herein designated as the lectotype, labelled «L[evette]/Casey bequest 1925/ Type USNM 47354 About USNM / vulneratus Csy [handwritten]/ UAIC 00044062 View Materials / lectotype Loxandrus vulneratus by [handwritten] R. T. Allen» .
The lectotype (SBL ¼ 6.1 mm; ABL ¼ about 6.5 mm) is conspecific with specimens of L. vitiosus Allen, 1972 [NEW SYNONYMY]. The species is structurally very similar to L. duryi Wright but the mentum foveal pits are smaller, the shapes of the pronotum and of the median lobe of the aedeagus differ in minute details, and the endophallic structures are differently arranged.
