4. Loxandrus collucens Casey, 1918:382 View in CoL
This taxon was described from an unspecified number of specimens collected at «Houston, Texas ». Casey’s collection in USNM contains a single specimen under that name, a female herein designated as lectotype, labelled «Tex./Casey bequest 1925/ Type USNM 47336 About USNM / collucens Csy. [handwritten]/ UAIC 00044049 View Materials / paratype Loxandrus collucens by [handwritten] R. T. Allen» .
The lectotype (SBL ¼ 7.5 mm; ABL ¼ about 8.4 mm) belongs to the rectus group and represents a species not treated by Allen (1972). This species differs from the other species of the group (e.g., L. pravitubus Allen , L. lucens Chaudoir , and L. rectus Say ) by the combination of smaller size (ABL: 8.0– 10.2 mm), presence of meshed microsculpture on the proepisternum medially and prosternum laterally, and pale (entirely reddish-yellow to yellowish-red) legs.
