6. Loxandrus concinnus Casey, 1918:391 View in CoL
This taxon was described from an unspecified number of specimens collected at «Dunedin, Florida ». Casey’s collection in USNM contains two conspecific specimens under that name, both females. One of them, herein selected as the lectotype, is labelled «Dunedin, Fla W.S.B. Coll. 12-28-15/Casey bequest 1925/Type USNM 47353 About USNM / UIAC 00044053 / concinnus Csy. [handwritten]/ lectotype Loxandrus concinnus by [handwritten] R. T. Allen» .
Both specimens (SBL ¼ 6.7 mm [lectotype]; ABL ¼ about 7.1 mm [lectotype]) are conspecific with specimens of L. celeris (Dejean, 1828) [NEW SYNONYMY]. This species is one of only six North American Loxandrus with setae underneath the last tarsomere of each leg. The other species are structurally very different and belong to other groups. Both specimens of the type series of L. concinnus have a distinct orange spot around the suture near the posterior third of the elytra.
