Type species by monotypy: Hymenosoma mathaei Desmarest, 1823 .
The genus Elamena , which,with24 species, is one of the most species-rich in the family Hymenosomatidae , can be separated into two groups ( Lucas 1980). Elamena vesca is included in the group with a truncated rostrum and a polygonal carapace (Rahayu & Nugroho 2019).
