Xizicus (Eoxizicus) hsiehi View in CoL sp. nov. ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 )

Description. Male. Body small for the tribe Meconematini . Fastigium verticis conical, blunt apically and grooved dorsally. Eyes ovoid.

Pronotum ( Fig. 1A, B View FIGURE 1 ) rather short, anterior margin straight, posterior margin obtusely rounded, slightly projecting posteriorly; lateral lobe of pronotum longer than deep; humeral sinus shallow.

Femora unarmed on ventral surface. Fore coxae with a short spine, fore tibiae with 6 long spines on both margins of ventral surface, tympanal organs open on both sides. Middle tibiae with 5–6 long spines on internal and external sides of ventral surface. Genicular lobes of hind femora with apices obtuse; hind tibiae with 26–30 spines on both margins of dorsal surface, bearing one pair of dorsal apical spurs and two pairs of ventral apical spurs.

Tegmina narrow and elongate, surpassing apices of hind femora, apices obtusely rounded; hind wings slightly longer than tegmina.

Posterior margin of 10th abdominal tergite with a pair of elongate spikes. Cerci elongate ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 C–G), moderately incurved; basal area stout, basal half lamellate extending dorsally; apical half slightly narrow, dorsal margin with a long lamellate process, apically acute, depressed and obtusely rounded apically. Subgenital plate trapezoidal, basal area slightly broad, while apical area gently narrowing. Styli inserted on the apico-lateral margins of subgenital plate.

Coloration. Body light yellowish brown, probably green when alive. Eyes brown. Dorsal area of head with a pair of longitudinal brown stripes ( Fig. 1A, B View FIGURE 1 ), these extending onto disc of pronotum. Genicular lobes of hind femora with apices black brown, dorsal spines of hind tibiae with apices black brown.

Female. Unknown.

Type material. Holotype: male, Taoyuan, Taiwan, 4 September, 2016, coll. Tien Hsieh.

Measurements (mm). Body: ♂ 11.0; pronotum: ♂ 4.0; tegmina: ♂ 14.5; hind femora: ♂ 11.0.

Discussion. The male cerci of the new species are similar to those of Xiphidiopsis (Xiphidiopsis) gurneyi Tinkham, 1944 , but can be distinguished by the pair of spike-like processes on posterior margin of 10th abdominal tergite.

Etymology. The name of the new species is derived from the collector’s last name to thank him for collecting the specimen.
