Nemoura guangdongensis Li & Yang View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Figs. 11–15 View FIGURES 11 – 15 )
Diagnosis. Dorsal sclerite of epiproct with a pair of arcuate, sclerotized lateral arms, each bearing a row of conspicuous spines along its margin. Cercus sclerotized, constricted medially, forming a large, dark hook at tip. Paraproct bilobed, its inner lobe elongate with a sinuous outer margin and acute tip.
Male: Forewing length 7.7 mm, hindwing length 6.6 mm. Head and mouthparts dark brown; antennae yellowish brown; compound eyes dark. Thorax and abdomen brown; wings hyaline; legs yellowish except distal part of femora with narrow brown bands. Hypoproct and cerci brownish; hairs on abdomen mostly pale.
Terminalia ( Figs. 11–15 View FIGURES 11 – 15 ): Tergum nine weakly sclerotized except anterior margin sclerotized, slightly constricted medially, with a shallow midanterior incision, and with row of long hairs along posterior margin. Sternum nine with claviform vesicle with basal half sclerotized; hypoproct oval, then distinctly tapering toward papillate tip. Tergum 10 weakly sclerotized, with a narrow median concavity widening toward base of epiproct bearing several tiny black spines located along anterolateral margin. Cercus sclerotized, slightly constricted medially, forming a large, dark hook at tip. Epiproct short and oval, with bifurcate tip in dorsal view and obliquely quadrangular, and with membraneous apical area in lateral view. Dorsal sclerite with pair of arcuate, sclerotized lateral arms, bearing a row of spines along its margin and with two tiny spines medially along lateral margin. Ventral sclerite of epiproct sclerotized, mostly inserted into dorsal sclerite, with a row of weak spines ventrally. Paraproct bilobed: outer lobe broad and rectangular in proximal half, gradually tapering into triangular distal half, with outer margin darkly sclerotized, longer than inner lobe; inner lobe weakly sclerotized, elongate, and with sinuous outer margin and acute tip.
Female. Unknown.
Type Material. Holotype. male, CHINA: Guangdong, Nanling National Nature Reserve, Mangshan, 2005. VIII. 26, J. Zhang.
Distribution. China (Guangdong).
Etymology. The specific name refers to its type locality, Guangdong.
Remarks: The new species is related to N. chattriki Aubert from Assam by the shape of the epiproct and cerci, but may be separated from the latter by the epiproct with two tiny spines medially at outer margin, its dorsal sclerite with the lateral arms having several black spines along its margin, and by the outer lobe of the paraproct with a triangular tip. In N. chattriki , the epiproct has two distinct teeth exclusively at apex and the outer lobe is generally quadrate with a large, round projection at tip ( Aubert 1967).
