Stauroneis sp. ( Fig. 66 View FIGURES 62–74 )

Features: Length 84–88 μm, width 13–14 μm, striae 20–22 in 10 μm.

Description: Valves linear lanceolate with rounded apices. Raphe straight, axial area linear and narrow, central area in a form of fascia not reaching valve margin. Striae 20–22 in 10 μm, weakly radiate in the middle, becoming parallel near apices.

Remarks: This species looks similar to Stauroneis dubitabilis Hustedt (1959: 789) but having larger size, less dense striae and fascia not reaching valve margin.

Ecology and Distribution: Unknown. Rare in Basra corals.
