Family PARABATHYNELIDAE Noodt, 1965
The three new species described herein belong to the genera Montanabathynella and Texanobathynella . Montanabathynella was previously considered to be monotypic, whereas Montanabathynella salish Camacho et al., 2009 was known only from the alluvial flood plains of Flathead River, (AJ well, Jocko River, Lake County, 11 May 2004, and well station SR HYP 238, Flathead County, 2 February 2004; eight males and five females) in Montana ( USA). The type species Texanobathynella bowmani was found initially in Gorman Cave, San Saba County, and Roaring Springs, Travies Country, Texas ( USA) (Delamare Deboutteville, 1973; five specimens). The second species of the genus, T. sachi Cho, 1996 , was found in a ‘drained stream bed’ (dry streambed?) at San Clement Canyon Park, San Diego, California ( USA) (Noodt, 14 August 1973; six males and five females).
Morphological descriptions are based on the holotypes and the rest of the type series. Molecular analyses are based on DNA extracted from whole specimens or from the abdomen of specimens used in morphological descriptions (see Tables 1 and 2).
