Comments

This species is known only from the series of specimens collected in environs of Merauke, Indonesia. Chrysanthus (1967) assumed that E. marplesi is closely related to Cheiracanthium diversum L. Koch, 1873 [= E. mordax ]. In our opinion, the female of E. marplesi is very close to that of E. insulana (the male is not known), while the male is similar to the male of E. lompobattangi (the female is not known).
