TYPE LOCALITY: Russia, Altai Krai, Altai Mtns, Seminsk Ridge, Tapuchii (Tapucha) .

DISTRIBUTION: E Kazakhskaya and Russia, Altai Krai, NW Altai Mtns; see Kuznetsov (1965) and Sludskii (1977).

COMMENTS: Sokolov et al. (1982, 1987b) gave karyological and spermatozoal characters that distinguished this species from S. pseudonapaea and S. betulina .
