Notes. Fain (1966b) drew attention to the taxonomic and nomenclatural ambiguity surrounding the names Paralges pteronyssoides Trouessart, 1887 , Mealia pteronyssina Trouessart, 1897 , and Dermatophagoides scheremetevskyi Bogdanov, 1864 . Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus ( Trouessart, 1897) is not the oldest available name for this species, but I use it as valid here to conform with overwhelming prevailing usage, as recommended by Colloff (2009) and many other authors.
