TAXONOMIC STATUS: According to Leliaert et al. (2008) and Guiry & Guiry (2014) the name W. mexicana is currently considered as a taxonomic synonym of Phyllodictyon robustum (Setchell & N. L. Gardner) Leliaert and Wysor ; also see coments under that name.
