Rhizoclonium hieroglyphicum (C. Agardh) Kützing (1845: 206) .

TAXONOMIC STATUS: According to Pedroche et al. (2005) and Guiry & Guiry (2014) this name is accepted taxonomicaly; however no one has recently reviewed the taxonomic status.

RECORDS IN THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA: ND ( González-González et al. 1996: 138), Bahía de La Paz ( Huerta-Múzquiz & Mendoza-González 1985: 42), Souther Gulf ( Norris 2010: 64). Unpublished data: Castillo-Álvarez (1990: 89, table 1), Vázquez-Borja (1999: table 1).

Rhizoclonium implexum (Dillwyn) Kützing (1845: 206) .

TAXONOMIC STATUS: According to Burrows (1991) this species is a synonym of Rhizoclonium tortuosum (Dillwyn) Kützing. On the other hand, Guiry & Guiry (2014) regarded the name R. implexum as a taxonomic synonym of Rhizoclonium riparium (Roth) Harvey. However , no one has recently reviewed the taxonomic status.

Rhizoclonium kerneri Stockmeyer (1890: 582) .

TAXONOMIC STATUS: According to Burrows (1991) this species is a synonym of R. tortuosum while at the present Guiry & Guiry (2014) regarded this name as a taxonomic synonym of R. riparium ; however no one has recently reviewed the taxonomic status.

RECORDS IN THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA: Bahía de Banderas ( Serviere-Zaragoza et al. 1998, table 2).

Rhizoclonium kochianum Kützing (1845: 206) .

TAXONOMIC STATUS: According to Pedroche et al. (2005), Norris (2010) and Guiry & Guiry (2014) this species is currently regarded as a taxonomic synonym of Rhizoclonium riparium var. implexum (Dillwyn) Rosenvinge. None of these reports whether the type material was evaluated, or when the change was originally published. At the present, no one has reviewed its taxonomic status.

TAXONOMIC STATUS: According to Guiry & Guiry (2014) this name is currently accepted taxonomicaly.

RECORDS IN THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA: Bahía de La Paz ( Huerta-Múzquiz & Mendoza-González 1985: 42), Sonora ( Mendoza-González & Mateo-Cid1986: 419), Bahía de Banderas ( Serviere-Zaragoza et al. 1993), Northern Gulf ( Norris 2010: 64, 65, as R. riparium var. riparium ). Unpublished data: Holguín-Quiñones (1971: 79, table IV), Castillo-Álvarez (1990: 90, table 1).

Rhizoclonium riparium var. implexum (Dillwyn) Rosenvinge (1893: 915) .

TAXONOMIC STATUS: According to Norris (2010) and Guiry & Guiry (2014) the name is currently regarded as a taxonomic synonym of R. implexum (Dillwyn) Kützing ; however no one has recently reviewed its status.

RECORDS IN THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA: Punta Arena and Cabo Pulmo ( Mateo-Cid et al. 2000, table 1).
