TAXONOMIC STATUS: This name needs to be reassessed in the region since the genus has changed to Ulva based on a review of the type material ( Hayden et al. 2003). Pedroche et al. (2005), Norris (2010) and Guiry & Guiry (2014) recognized the name E. acanthophora as a taxonomic synonym of Ulva acanthophora (Kützing) Hayden, Blomster, Maggs, P. C. Silva and J. R. Waaland.

TAXONOMIC STATUS: According to Hayden et al. (2003) the name E. clathrata is a synonym of Ulva muscoides Clemente. However, Hayden & Walaand (2004) consider it Ulva clathrata (Roth) C. Agardh. TAXONOMIC STATUS: According to Kraft (2007) and Guiry & Guiry (2014) this name is regarded as a taxonomic synonym of Ulva flexuosa subsp. paradoxa (C. Agardh) M. J. Wynne ; however no one has recently reviewed the taxonomic status.

TAXONOMIC STATUS: According to Guiry & Guiry (2014) the name E. intestinalis f. cylindracea is currently regarded as a taxonomic synonym of Ulva intestinalis f. cylindracea (J. Agardh) M. J. Wynne.

TAXONOMIC STATUS: Norris (2010) mention this species as a synonym of Ulva paradoxa (Roth) C. Agardh ; However, according to Hayden et al. (2003) and Guiry & Guiry (2014) consider this name as a taxonomic synonym of U. flexuosa subsp. paradoxa . The taxonomic status of this species needs review for the Gulf of California.

Enteromorpha prolifera (O. F. Müller) J. Agardh (1883: 129) .

TAXONOMIC STATUS: Bliding (1963) proposed that E. prolifera and Enteromorpha radiata J. Agardh be different taxa. Later, Guiry (1997) noted the synonym between this species and Enteromorpha ahlneriana Bliding and Enteromorpha torta (Mertens) Reinbold. Since then, different authors have considered this species as a synonym of Ulva prolifera O.F. Müller ( Pedroche et al. 2005, Guiry & Guiry 2014), U. flexuosa ( Pedroche et al. 2005) and Ulva radiata (J. Agardh) H.S. Hayden, Blomster, Maggs, P.C. Silva, M.J. Stanhope and J.R.Waaland ( Norris 2010) . However according to Hayden and Waaland (2004) on the Pacific coast U. radiata has been misidentified as U. prolifera , noting this needs (ed) to be tested with comparative molecular analysis.

TAXONOMIC STATUS: Burrows (1991) mentioned that this name is a synonym of Enteromorpha crinita (Roth) J. Agardh while Norris (2010) reported this as a synonym of U. acanthophora and U. clathrata . However currently, according to
