Halicystis ovalis (Lyngbye) Areschoug (1850: 447) .
TAXONOMIC STATUS: Norris (2010) mention that it is one phase of the life cycle of D. marina , referred for the northern Gulf epiphytic on the articulated coralline Amphiroa vanbosseae Me. Lemoine. According to Guiry & Guiry (2014). H. ovalis is currently regarded as a taxonomic synonym of D. marina , see comments under that name.
