Data View in CoL analysis
Differences in the composition of the benthic cover between the reef sectors (coastal and oceanic) and between habitats (algal slope, back reef, fore reef, patch reef, reef channel, reef flat, tidal pool and unconsolidated substrate) were accessed by using a similarity analysis (one-way ANOSIM; chord similarity) and non-metric multidimensional scaling (MDS; chord similarity) ( Clarke 1993). The characterisation of the groups formed was tested through a percentage similarity analysis (SIMPER) ( Clarke 1993). All analyses were performed in the program Paleontological Statistics (PAST) ( Hammer et al. 2001).
