Figs 33–36 View FIGURES 33 – 36

Description. Male (holotype). Body length 4.1 mm. Head and pronotum dark reddish; elytra brownish black, with reddish base and slight greenish reflection; legs and antennae largely dark reddish, distal antennomeres slightly darker, tibiae brownish-black.

Head 1.2 times as long as wide, its base moderately produced medially, differentiated from short neck; tempora strongly narrowing posteriad, posterior angles absent. Eyes medium-sized, rather convex. Dorsal surface moderately glossy, distinctly punctate and largely corrugated, with smooth base and median strip in posterior half; punctures distinctly separated. Setation short, subdecumbent; few tactile setae. Antennae only moderately enlarged in terminal third; antennomere X 1.7 times, XI 2.3 times as long as wide.

Pronotum 1.4 times as long as wide, distinctly narrower than head including eyes, evenly rounded anteriorly, strongly narrowed and moderately impressed (constricted) postero-laterally in dorsal view; pronotal disc nearly evenly convex in lateral view. Surface glossy; antero-lateral sides minutely and sparsely punctate, nearly impunctate near procoxal cavities; disc more distinctly and densely punctate, especially posteriorly, weakly transversely corrugated and slightly bulging before smooth antebasal area; postero-lateral impressions longitudinally wrinkled, adjacent dorso-lateral surface rugose. Setation as on head.

Mesosternum with slight indication of rounded median longitudinal bulge. Metasternum simple.

Elytra 1.8 times as long as wide, conjointly rounded apically; humeri distinct; postscutellar impression absent. Surface glossy, distinctly punctate; punctation double, setiferous punctures rather widely separated. Setation nearly evenly developed, sparser near base, generally longer and more raised than on head, decumbent; numerous tactile setae.

Metathoracic wings fully developed.

Fore legs modified ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 33 – 36 ); profemoral process short, tooth-like, rounded apically, with short fringe of stiff setae subapically; protibiae nearly simple, moderately swollen and slightly angled on inner side at about midlength; penultimate tarsomere widened/flattened distally, with terminal tarsomere articulated dorsally near base in all tarsi. Setation normally developed; pro- and mesotibiae with two, metatibiae with single distinct terminal spur.

Abdominal sternum III with small, paired submedian projections slightly anterior to mid-length. Sternum VII shallowly emarginate, with minute, pointed median process of posterior margin and angular lobule, projecting ventrally, just anterior to margin (their apices connected by carina; Fig. 34 View FIGURES 33 – 36 ). Tergum VII simple, evenly rounded posteriorly. Sternite VIII ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 33 – 36 ); paired prongs forming three long, slender projections. Tergite VIII with simple paired sclerites, subtruncate apically, narrowly connected medially. Terminal sclerite of segment IX (spiculum) membranous and inconspicuous. Aedeagus ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 33 – 36 ); apical portion of tegmen 0.5 times as long as basal-piece, trilobed apically.

Variation. Body length (♂♂) 3.8–4.1 mm.

Differential diagnosis. Anthelephila bannape sp. nov. belongs to the A. fossicollis species-group. It can be easily recognized by the short submedian projections of male sternum VIII (longer carinae in other species), the angular median process of sternum VII and by the rather distinctive morphology of the paired prongs of sternite VIII.

Etymology. Named after the locality of the paratype. Noun in apposition.

Distribution. Laos.
