Description. Female (holotype). Body length 4.4 mm. Head reddish-brown, pronotum moderately darker; elytra brownish-black, with paler, reddish-brown base and lateral margins; antennae reddish-brown, legs dark reddishbrown, tarsi somewhat paler.
Head 1.3 times as long as wide, strongly produced posteriorly and nearly smoothly merging with short neck; tempora strongly narrowing posteriad, posterior angles absent. Eyes medium-sized, rather convex. Dorsal surface moderately glossy, minutely punctate and coarsely corrugated; punctures distinctly separated; neck with several, coarse transverse wrinkles. Setation short, subdecumbent; some long tactile setae. Antennae slightly enlarged in terminal third; antennomere X 1.8 times, XI 2.6 times as long as wide.
Pronotum 1.7 times as long as wide, conspicuously narrower than head including eyes, rounded anteriorly, narrowed and shallowly impressed (constricted) postero-laterally in dorsal view; pronotal disc largely convex, shallowly impressed posteriorly and slightly bulging before base in lateral view. Surface glossy; antero-lateral sides minutely and sparsely punctate, impunctate near procoxal cavities; disc rather coarsely and densely punctate in median line, with several coarse, transverse wrinkles posteriorly anterior to smooth antebasal area; postero-lateral impressions wrinkled. Setation as on head, moderately longer.
Mesosternum with distinct median longitudinal bulge, narrowing and with several coarse setae posteriorly, its wider anterior part impressed medially, outline nearly straight in lateral view; metasternum simple.
Elytra 1.7 times as long as wide, conjointly rounded apically; humeri distinct; postscutellar impression absent. Surface glossy, distinctly punctate; punctation double, coarse setiferous punctures widely separate, even sparse in basal third. Setation generally longer than on head, decumbent; numerous tactile setae.
Metathoracic wings fully developed.
Tibiae with two equal terminal spurs.
Abdominal sternum VII simple, evenly rounded posteriorly; tergum VII subtriangular, rounded apically.
Type material. Holotype, ♀: S Thailand, Betong Gunung Cang dun vill. Yala dist., 25.3.– 22.4.1993 J. Horák leg. [p] ( NMPC).
Differential diagnosis. Anthelephila provecta sp. nov. can be recognized by the following characters in combination: nearly unicoloured; head strongly produced at base and nearly smoothly merging with short neck, dorsal surface of head longitudinally corrugated, neck with several coarse transverse wrinkles; pronotum elongate and comparatively narrow, only shallowly impressed postero-laterally, disc moderately impressed before slight antebasal bulge, densely punctate in median line; mesosterum with distinct median longitudinal bulge that is narrowly impressed anteriorly.
Etymology. From Latin provectus (aged, advanced in years), referring to the coarsely wrinkled head. Distribution. Thailand.
