Nops mathani Simon, 1893a: 307 View in CoL . Female holotype from São Paulo de Olivença, Amazonas, Brazil (MNHN 6532; examined).

Remarks. Additional material from this species was not located. However, adult female holotype can be easily separate from other Nops species by the remarkable dorsal abdominal pattern.

Diagnosis. Both sexes can easily be separated from members of all the other South American species by having a dorsal abdominal pattern unique as in figure 58 A‒B, D.

Description. Male: Unknown.

Female (holotype): Carapace dark orange. Chelicerae, palps and legs orange; coxae and trochanters lighter ( Fig. 58A View FIGURE 58 ). Endites, labium and sternum light orange ( Fig. 58B View FIGURE 58 ). Abdomen with a dark gray longitudinal, dorsal, irregular stripe and four dark gray, irregular large spots on both laterals ( Fig. 58A, D View FIGURE 58 ). Anal tubercle and spinnerets lighter than abdomen. Total length 9.4. Carapace 5.5 long, 3.8 wide. Sternum 4.3 long, 3.6 wide. Leg measurements: I: 4.0; II: 3.9; III: 3.4; IV: 4.05. Posterior unpaired claws small, as in other three‒clawed spiders ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ). PLS same size as PMS ( Fig. 58C View FIGURE 58 ). External genital area with weakly sclerotized anterior plate, strongly sclerotized lep and remarkable ess ( Fig. 58E View FIGURE 58 ).

Distribution. Known only from the type locality in Amazonas, Brazil ( Fig. 58G View FIGURE 58 ).
