Pseudopsyra bispina Tan & Nizam View in CoL , new species

( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 )

Material examined. Holotype (male): Malay Peninsula, Pahang, Bukit Fraser, in Puncak Inn , N03.71194, E101.73595, 1268 ± 8.7, dying on the floor along corridor, coll. M. K. Tan, 15 May 2013, 0745 hours ( ZRC). GoogleMaps

Diagnosis. See key to species above.

Description. Habitus typical of this genus ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ). Head small, with length 0.4 times (n = 1) of pronotum length. Fastigium narrower than antennal scapus. Eye prominent. Frons smooth. Pronotum smooth, 1.2 times longer than wide (n = 1); dorsal plate with anterior margin gently concave, with posterior margin rounded ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 ); lateral keel more distinct on distal half of dorsal plate; lateral lobe 1.1 times longer than tall (n = 1), ventral and posterior margins obtusely rounded. Mesosternum with small and triangular lobes, with apex of lobes rounded; metasternum with lobes larger than those of mesosternum, with apex of lobes more broadly rounded. Tegmen and hind wing fully developed. Tegmen narrow basally, widens gently medially and with apex narrowly rounded. Tegminal venation as shown in Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ; costal vein distinct, Rs bifurcate. Hind wing surpassing tegmen. Anterior tibia with external and internal tympana, internal tympanum swollen and conchate, external tympanum open and oval; with 5 inner spines and 4 outer spines. Hind legs lost.

Male. Mirror of left tegmen circa 1.2 times as long as wide (n = 1) ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 ). Stridulatory file of left tegmen slim and elongated, about 0.4 mm (n = 1), substraight to slightly sinuous; with circa 24 teeth per 0.5 mm (n = 1) densely and evenly spaced throughout. Abdominal apex as shown in Figs. 2D– 2F View FIGURE 2 . Tenth abdominal tergite longer than wide, setose; basal margin slightly concave; with basal part raised into a narrowly V-shaped plate; depressed medially, roundly swollen laterally of the depression; gently narrow apically, apical margin with narrow lateral lobe, apex obtuse ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 ). Epiproct concealed under the prolongation of tenth abdominal tergite. Cercus large, cylindrical and elongated; basal half gently tapering and directed ventrally, medial area gently curved dorsally, apical half directed dorsally; apex tapering to a spine with percurrent flattened edges; apical half with conical ventro-internal projection with subacute apex( Figs. 2D, E View FIGURE 2 ). Subgenital plate narrow and elongated with long styli; basal margin roundly emarginated, basal area strongly tapering into narrow shaft with lateral margin slightly concave; apical part weakly diverging with apex roundly excised; lateral apical lobes short ( Fig. 2F View FIGURE 2 ). Stylus long and narrow, 0.4 times (n = 1) as long as subgenital plate; substraight, inserted at apex of lateral projections; with apex roundly obtuse ( Fig. 2F View FIGURE 2 ). Genitalia membranous.

Female. Unknown.

Colouration. Green in general. Head, including scapus green; antenna brown, mouth parts yellow green to yellow, maxillary palps green but yellow apically. Pronotum green, posterior margin of dorsal plate with black stripe. Tegmen green, with costal vein distinctly yellow. Hind wing mostly hyaline, with projecting area green, not hyaline. Tergite mostly green, with dorsum yellow to orange red. Sternite green laterally, pale yellow ventrally. Male abdominal apex mostly yellow to orange; male tenth abdominal apex orange, with tint of red; male cerci and internal projection orange with apices dark; male subgenital plate mostly pale green, with distal part and styli pale yellow.

Measurements (holotype, in mm). BL: 24.1; BWL: 51.9; PL: 6.0; PW: 4.9; TL: 42.0; TW: 9.4; HWT: 4.7.

Etymology. Species name is from Latin words bi (= two) and spina (= spine) in reference to the diagnostic ventro-internal projection of cercus in addition to the spine-like apex.
