Diagnosis. As Rhinoecetes , including mouth parts (see diagnosis, Just 1983), except: Head without mid anterodorsal depression. Short rostral front margin area divided into two acute points.

Etymology. The ancient Greek prefix παρά (para) can mean ‘side-by-side’: hence close to Rhinoecetes .

Type species. Pararhinoecetes bicornis sp. nov., here designated.

Component species. Type species only.
