Material. Holotype MNHN A31971 (coll. Nel, sex unknown), stored at the Laboratoire de Paléontologie, MNHN, Paris, France.
Age and outcrop. Lower Cretaceous, Yixian Formation, Beipiao City, Liaoning Province, China.
Etymology. Named after our colleague Dr. Mikhail B. Mostovski, a specialist in fossil flies.
Description. Wing 6.5 mm long, 2.6 mm wide; R1 regularly weakly curved; R2+3, sinuous, reaching anterior wing margin 0.6 mm from apex; R4+5 emerging at nearly right angle from R4+5+M1+2, 1.8 mm from base of Rs; R4 and R5 rather short, both 1.0 mm long; the latter terminating just beyond wing apex; M2 and M1+2 aligned with R4+5+M1+2; M1 arched forwards; M1 and M2 nearly parallel, short, M1 1.1 mm long, M2 0.85 mm long; m-m 0.5 mm long; transverse m-cu between M4 and Cu; A nearly straight, ending on posterior wing margin very close to apex of Cu; cell d 2.3 mm long, 0.7 mm wide; anal area rather broad, about 0.8 mm wide.
Body without visible large or small setae; head rounded, 1.9 mm long, 3 mm wide, eyes holoptic, antenna very short, 0.4 mm long, with broad scape, pedicel, and first flagellomere, plus a terminal style, mouthparts not visible; thorax distorted and compressed (so that its detailed morphology cannot be accurately described), without setae, 3.4 mm long, 2.4 mm wide; abdomen apparently without setae, rounded, nearly as wide as long, 3.5 mm long, 3.4 mm wide, no visible genital structures (sex unknown); legs bare, claws rather large, curved.
