Description of Sphingomonas faeni WS View in CoL 23
Cells are Gramstainingnegative, nonflagellated, pigmented, and rodshaped. Colonies are circular, entire, convex, smooth and orange colored after 3 days of incubation on R2A agar medium at 25°C. Negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urea and gelatinase but positive for esculin hydrolysis and β galactosidase. DGlucose, Larabinose, Dmannose, citric acid, N acetylglucosamine, Dmaltose, malic acid and trisodium citrate are utilized. DMannitol, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid and phenylacetic acid are not utilized. Strain WS23 (= NIBRBA0000115019) has been isolated from fresh water, Changnyeong, Korea.
