Description of Sphingomonas hunanensis 01SU6

Cells are Gram­staining­negative, non­flagellated, pigmented and rod­shaped. Colonies are circular, smooth, convex and yellow colored after 3 days of incubation on R2A at 25°C. Positive for esculin hydrolysis and assimilation of D­maltose in API 20NE but negative for nitrate reduction, arginine dihydrolase, urease, indole production, glucose fermentation, gelatinase, β ­galactosidase, D­glucose, L­arabinose, D­mannitol, D­mannose, potassium gluconate, malic acid, trisodium citrate, N ­acetyl­glucosamine, capric acid, adipic acid and phenylacetic acid. Strain 01SU6 (= NIBRBA0000115026) has been isolated from a fresh water sample, Changnyeong, Korea.
