Diagnosis. This species is easily recognized by having the abaxial margin of harpe projected anterad, aedeagal ventral valve straight, parallel and aligned with the aedeagal dorsal valve and aedeagal dorsal lobes short with a inner narrow fold.

Description. Head. Mandible with two distal teeth. Median clypeal lobe trapezoidal, with one angulate short tooth; median clypeal carina low in profile, incomplete apically, straight in profile or nearly so. Frons weakly coriaceous, punctures small and sparse. Vertex crest straight or nearly so. Dorsal pronotal area with anterior margin ecarinate. Tergal process submedian, consisting of tuft with few setae, without depression. Posterior hypopygeal margin incurved medially.Genitalia.Harpe entirely wide, apical margin truncate,abaxial margin projected;gonostipes shorter than harpe, ventral margin not excavated until outer margin of basivolsella; digitus short, basidorsal corner strongly projected; basivolsella without protuberance, without spines; aedeagal ventral valve with apex aligned with apex of dorsal one, wide, progressively narrowing apicad; inner margin straight; outer margin straight, parallel; aedeagal dorsal valve narrow, with two pairs of apical lobe; outer lobe short, narrow, apical margin rounded, and posterad; apex of inner median filament aligned with apex of lobe, directed posterad; basal cover plate entirely narrow, posterior margin completely incurved; apodeme extending beyond genital ring.

Material examined. Holotype, 1♂: GUATEMALA, Izabal, Las Escobas, 200m, VI–1987, MT, Sharkey ( PMAE) . Paratypes: HONDURAS, Middlesex, E. C.Wellina, 1♂, 125m, 29.III.1965, 1♂, 7.IV.1965, 1♂, 17.IV.1965, 1♂, 1.V.1965 ( CNCI) .

Distribution. Guatemala, Honduras.

Etymology. This species is named after the physicist and writer Amélia Império Hamburger, who united Physics with the different areas of human sciences.

Remarks. It is similar to D. beatrizae sp. nov. by having the aedeagal dorsal lobes narrow and inner median filament anterior to the aedeagal dorsal lobes and the basivolsella without protuberance. However, D. ameliae sp. nov. has the abaxial margin of harpe pointed anterad and not wide basally and aedeagal dorsal lobes long, whereas D. beatrizae sp. nov. has the abaxial margin of harpe not pointed anterad and wide basally and aedeagal dorsal lobes short.
