Dissomphalus limae Brito & Azevedo , sp. nov.
( Figs 1B View FIGURE 1 , 5B View FIGURE 5 )
Diagnosis. This species is easily recognized by having the harpe with dorsal margin straight and entirely wide, the apex of inner median filament ventrad, the digitus very wide, the aedeagal ventral valve very narrow and basivolsellar protuberance pointed.
Description. Head. Mandible with two distal teeth. Median clypeal lobe subtrapezoidal, with one angulate tooth; median clypeal carina low in profile, complete or nearly so. Frons weakly coriaceous, punctures large and sparse. Vertex crest weakly incurved. Dorsal pronotal area with anterior margin coarse. Tergal process submedian, with dense tuft of setae inside of shallow depression. Posterior hypopygeal margin weakly outcurved. Genitalia. Harpe entirely wide, apical margin rounded, abaxial margin not projected; gonostipes shorter than harpe, ventral margin not excavated until outer margin of basivolsella; digitus short, basidorsal corner strongly projected; basivolsella with narrow, well-defined protuberance, without spines; aedeagal ventral valve with apex aligned with apex of dorsal one, wide, progressively narrowing apicad; inner margin slightly sinuous; outer margin slightly sinuous, curved laterad; aedeagal dorsal valve narrow, with two pairs of apical lobe; outer lobe long, narrow, apical margin acute and posterad; apex of inner median filament anterior to apex of lobe, directed ventrad or nearly so; basal cover plate entirely wide, posterior margin straight or nearly so; apodeme extending beyond genital ring.
Material examined. Holotype, 1♂: PANAMÁ, Veraguas Pr. Santa Fé, Altos De Piedra , 13–17.XI.1999, Tr. Malaise, A. Santos, P. González ( MIUP).
Distribution. Panama.
Etymology. This species is named after the sociologist Nísia Verônica Trindade Lima, the first woman to head the Ministry of Health in Brazil.
Remarks. It is similar to D. eulaliae sp. nov. by having the aedeagal dorsal valve entirely narrow and straight, aedeagal dorsal lobes long and the aedeagal ventral valve slender. However, D. limae sp. nov. has the harpe entirely wide, the apex of inner median filament ventrad, the digitus very wide and the basivolsellar protuberance slightly pointed, whereas D. eulaliae sp. nov. has the harpe slightly wide basally, the apex of inner median filament directed posterad, the digitus narrow, and the basivolsellar protuberance not pointed.
