( Figs 1A View FIGURE 1 , 7B View FIGURE 7 )

Diagnosis. This species is easily recognized by having the harpe very wide, the aedeagal dorsal lobes long with apex of inner median filament about three times smaller than aedeagal dorsal lobes, the basal cover plate with posterior margin concave medially, and the aedeagal ventral valve with apices very thin.

Description. Head. Mandible with two distal teeth. Median clypeal lobe subtrapezoidal, with one angulate tooth; median clypeal carina low in profile, complete or nearly so, straight in profile or nearly so. Frons coriaceous, punctures small and sparse. Vertex crest straight or nearly so. Dorsal pronotal area with anterior margin coarse. Tergal process submedian, consisting of tuft with few setae, without depression. Posterior hypopygeal margin straight with median concavity. Genitalia. Harpe entirely wide, apical margin rounded, abaxial margin not projected; gonostipes shorter than harpe; digitus short, basidorsal corner strongly projected; basivolsella poorly delimited with wide protuberance, without spines; aedeagal ventral valve with apex aligned with apex of dorsal one, wide, abruptly narrowing apicad; inner margin slightly sinuous; outer margin outcurved, parallel; aedeagal dorsal valve robust, with two pairs of apical lobe; outer lobe long, narrow, apical margin angled and posterad; apex of inner median filament anterior to apex of lobe, directed laterad; basal cover plate entirely wide, posterior margin slightly incurved medially; apodeme extending beyond genital ring.

Material examined. Holotype, 1♂: BRAZIL, Amazonas, Estirão do Equador , R. Javari, IX.1979, Alvarenga ( MZSP).

Distribution. Brazil (Amazonas).

Etymology. This species is named after the chemist and biochemist engineer Viviane dos Santos Barbosa, who won a prize at the International Aeorol Conference.

Remarks. It is not similar to any other of this group.
