Radhades crassus Distant View in CoL

Figs 3 View FIGURES 3 A–C, 10A–F.

Radhades crassus Distant 1912: 606 View in CoL ; 1916: 228, fig. 166; Hamilton 1999, fig. 21.

“Head, pronotum and scutellum pale fuscous brown; scutellum with a black spot at each basal angle, the lateral margins ochraceous, widened before apex; abdomen above pale fuscous brown, posterior segmental margins ochraceous, the apical segment nearly wholly ochraceous; body beneath and legs pale ochraceous, tibiae black; head, face and pronotum thickly coarsely punctate, scutellum more finely punctate; tegmina with the basal and claval areas semiopaque, ochraceous, and obscurely finely granulate” ( Distant 1916).

Male genitalia. Pygofer with dorsoposterior angle more angularly produced than more rounded and shorter posteroventral angle. Aedeagus with one pair of symmetrical subapical lateral processes, each process distally slightly widened and spiculate, process of dorsal apodeme as long as dorsal apodeme and stouter than shaft. Other characters as in generic description.

Measurements. Male 4.8 mm long, 2.0 mm wide across eyes and 1.9 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum.

Material examined: MYANMAR: Lectotype ♂ Radhades crassus , here designated “ Tenasserim Valley , Doherty ” ( BMNH).

Remarks. Distant (1912) described this species based on unknown number of speciemens (syntypic) collected from “Tenasserim Valley; Myitta (Doherty, Brit. Mus.)”; there is one syntype in the BMNH which is designated as lectotype. Radhades crassus can be distinguished from all other species of Ulopinae by the cylindrical body, the short and anteriorly rounded crown and the foretibiae dorsally scored.
