Description. ♀. Body length 13.5–15.5 mm.
Head. Flagellum with 36–39 flagellomeres, moderately lanceolate; 1 st flagellomere 1.9 × longer than wide, about 9 th flagellomere square, widest flagellomeres 2.0 × wider than long. Temple rather short, moderately and roundly behind eye, with fine punctures (fig. 27B). OED 1.2 × and OOD 1.2 × ocellar diameter. Frons almost smooth. Face densely punctate medially, with sparse punctuation laterally. Clypeus almost flat, with sparse punctures; apical margin blunt, slightly bulging medially (fig. 27A). Mandible with two teeth, ventral tooth smaller than dorsal tooth, not bent inwards. Malar space 0.4–0.5 × as long as width of mandibular base. Gena with sparse punctures. Genal carina reaching hypostomal carina close to mandibular base.
Mesosoma . Notaulus impressed in frontal 0.4 of mesoscutum. Mesoscutum with dense fine punctures on median lobe, with fine sparse or very sparse punctures laterally, shining. Mesopleuron with dense punctures. Speculum smooth and shining. Metapleuron with dense punctures; juxtacoxal carina present. Scutellum moderately elevated, 1.2 × wider than long, densely punctate, without lateral carina. Propodeum (fig. 27C) completely carinated, without apophysis; spiracle slit-shaped. Area basalis wider than long, sometimes confluent with area superomedia. Area superomedia dome- or drum-shaped, 1.2–1.5 × longer than wide; costula in its middle. Hind coxa with dense punctures and distinct scopa apico-ventrally. Hind femur densely punctate, 3.3–3.4 × longer than wide. Claws simple. Areolet pointed or almost pointed frontally. Vein 1cu-a postfurcal by 3.0 × its width.
Metasoma. Oxypygous. Postpetiole moderately widened, without latero-median carina; median field not separated, with some punctures and fine partly obsolete aciculation. 2 nd tergite 1.2 × wider than long. Gastrocoelus distinctly impressed, almost smooth. Thyridium transverse, 0.7 × as wide as the interval between thyridia (fig. 27D). 2 nd and 3 rd tergites densely rugose-punctate, dull; 2 nd tergite ± striate medially. Following tergites with superficial punctures, shining. 2 nd to 4 th sternites with median folds. Ovipositor sheath slightly reaching behind metasomal apex.
Colour. Black. Apical margin of clypeus and tegula reddish. Scape brownish. Ivory are dorsal stripes of flagellomeres 7–18/19, palps, mandible basally, clypeus laterally, face except black median spot, complete orbits, collar and upper margin of pronotum, two paramedian stripes of mesoscutum, subtegular ridge, longitudinal band of ventral mesopleuron, prescutellar ridge, side of scutellum, postscutellum, spot in front of propodeal spiracle and posterolateral stripe on propodeum (fig. 27C). Tergites black; postpetiole, 2 nd and 3 rd tergites with posterolateral ivory spots, sometimes medially confluent on 2 nd tergite (fig. 27D); 6 th and 7 th tergites mainly ivory. Legs red; coxae with yellow spots dorsally, hind tarsus reddish-brown. Wings hyaline; pterostigma black.
♂: Body length 13–15 mm. Flagellum with 37–39 flagellomeres, bristle-shaped; 1 st flagellomere 2.5 × longer than wide. Tyloids on flagellomeres 8–19/21, oval, maximally 0.5 × as long as their flagellomeres. OED and OOD 1.0 × ocellar diameter. Face with moderate paramedian impressions, also around anterior tentorial pits. Hind femur 3.5–3.6 × longer than wide. 2 nd tergite 1.1 × longer than wide. Apical margin of hypopygium tongue-like elongate medially. Structure otherwise as in ♀.
Colour. As in ♀, but flagellum black, reddish ventrally, without ivory ring. Face entirely, scape ventrally, propleuron, mesosternum, fore and mid coxae and trochanters, and hind trochantellus ivory. Tergites black; petiole ± reddish; basal tergites sometimes with partly reddish suffusion; postpetiole with posterolateral ivory spots; 2 nd and 3 rd tergites with apical ivory bands (medially narrowed), 4 th tergite sometimes with reddish or yellowish posterolateral spot; 6 th and 7 th tergite with large apico-median ivory spots. Hind tibia sometimes basally and apically narrowly infuscate; hind tarsus blackish.
Variation. Two ♂♂ from Sula Islands have a slightly different colour pattern: 1 st to 4 th tergites black, with distinct ivory posterolateral spots; ivory orbital stripes shortly interrupted between frontal and vertical orbits and between vertical and outer orbits; hind femur red, black in apical 0.2–0.4; hind tibia black, with red subbasal ring. Structure and colour pattern are otherwise typical.
One ♂ from Seram differs from the ♂♂ from Halmahera by: flagellomeres 12–19 ivory dorsally; mesosternum ivory, partly reddish and blackish; legs entirely red; 1 st to 4 th tergites mainly reddish-brown, 1 st to 3 rd tergites with ivory posterolateral spots; 6 th and 7 th tergites and paramere ivory. Structure and coloration are otherwise typical.
Remarks. This species is closely related to Lissosculpta albopicta Horstmann and might represent a variable subspecies of this widely distributed species.
Distribution. Only known from the Moluccas (Halmahera, Seram and Sula).
