gen. nov.

Orientodromus nov. gen.

Type species. Orientodromus thyridialis nov. sp.

Diagnosis. Small, body length 5.2 mm.

Head. Flagellum slender, almost bristle-shaped; widest flagellomeres about square. Temple very short, almost absent (fig. 34B). Clypeus slightly convex, slightly impressed apico-medially; apical margin blunt, slightly bilobed (fig. 34A). Mandible distinctly narrowed behind base, with two teeth, ventral tooth much smaller and strongly bent inwards (by 80°), mandible—seen from frontal—almost sickle-shaped. Genal carina reaching mandibular base.

Mesosoma . Stout, mesoscutum 1.2 × wider than long. Upper margin of pronotum ± widened and flattened (as in Deniya Cameron ). Epomia present. Notaulus not impressed. Mesopleuron coarsely and densely punctate ventrally, almost smooth dorsally; speculum smooth. Epicnemial carina reaching frontal margin of mesopleuron dorsally. Sternaulus not impressed. Juxtacoxal carina absent. Scutellum moderately elevated, almost vertically slanting at apical margin, with complete lateral carina. Propodeum (fig. 34C) completely carinated; without apophysis; spiracle slit-shaped. Area basalis without median tubercle. Area superomedia hexagonal; anterior transverse carina reaching its middle. Hind coxa with scopa apico-ventrally. Claws simple. Areolet almost pointed frontally. Vein 1cu-a postfurcal.

Metasoma. Oxypygous, stout. Petiole as wide as high. Postpetiole moderately widened, with sparse punctures, apico-medially smooth. Gastrocoelus impressed, ± smooth. Thyridium large, transverse (fig. 34D). 2 nd to 4 th sternites with median folds. Ovipositor sheath slender, extending behind metasomal apex by length of 7 th tergite.

Colour. Black with extensive ivory coloration.

Remarks. The general habitus of this new genus resembles members of the genus Clypeodromus Tereshkin , but the new species differs distinctly by: claws simple, juxtacoxal carina absent, mandible almost sickle-shaped with strongly bent lower tooth, and genal carina reaching mandibular base.

In the key of Heinrich (1934), the new genus runs to Stenichneumonpsis Heinrich and in the key of Townes et al. (1961) to Stenarches Heinrich , but can be differentiated by its very short and almost absent temples, stout habitus, different form of mandible, different carination of propodeum and absence of the juxtacoxal carina.
