Polybia saussurei Holmgren, 1868: 440 . Lectotype ♂, Ecuador, Puná (NR, Stockholm)
Diagnosis. FEMALE. Body covered with distinct setae, propodeum with dense appressed pubescence, first metasomal sternum with numerous distinct setae; gena wide and with a distinct margin; pronotal carina weak; first metasomal tergum relatively elongate for the group, ca. 1.1X longer than mesopleuron height, but wide distally; gena always yellow; clypeus entirely yellow. MALE. According to Richards (1978) has color similar as yellowest female; gena narrower; clypeus less angulated below and with less dense silvery pubescence.
