Hoplopyga multipunctata (Gory & Percheron, 1833)

Fig. 150 View FIGURES 147–150 (parameres)

[Gymnetis] Multipunctata. Dej .: Dejean 1833: 169 (catalog; distribution): nomen nudum

[Gymnetis] Parvula. Dej .: Dejean 1833: 169 (catalog; distribution): nomen nudum

[Gymnetis] Congregata. Dej .: Dejean 1833: 169 (catalog; distribution): nomen nudum

[Gymnetis] Confluens. Dej .: Dejean 1833: 169 (catalog; distribution): nomen nudum

Gymnetis Multi-Punctata Dej. : Gory & Percheron, 1833: 362–363 (description; distribution), plate 73, Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ; Burmeister 1842: 276–277 (description; distribution; references, = G. parvula , multipunctata , congregata et confluens Dej.); Lucas 1857: 111 (distribution).

Hoplopyga multipunctata Gory & Perch. : Schenkling 1921: 101 (catalog; distribution; references); Krajčík 1998: 79 (catalog; distribution; reference).

Distribution: CAYENNE (Dejean 1833). BRAZIL (Dejean 1833, Gory & Percheron 1833, Burmeister 1842, Schenkling 1921, Krajčík 1998); Brésil intérieur (Lucas 1857).

Material examined: BRAZIL: “Bras. / Dej.” [handwritten on white paper, not by Burmeister, glued to a hard board], 1 male [ HBBA], “ multipuncta- / ta G. & P. / toncea Hbst.” [handwritten by Burmeister, pinned to the bottom of the drawer] ; Rio de Janeiro: Barra de São João , 5-I-1990, C.A. Mañko leg., 1 male [ ODIC] (black ).

Male genitalia: parameres ( Fig. 150 View FIGURES 147–150 ).

This leads to the question if the specimen in the Burmeister Collection, labeled “Bras. / Dej.”, is a type from the Coll. Dejean.

Note 2: The specimen from Rio de Janeiro state is completely black, but its male parameres are identical to those of the male in the Burmeister Collection.
