Type locality. Beaufort, North Carolina, USA, intertidal.
Type material. Holotype ( USNM 67677), paratypes ( USNM 42994).
Records. Gulf of Mexico and Sea Caribbean ( Maciolek 1985).
Remarks. The name of Prionospio (Minuspio) wireni was introduced to the Grand Caribbean region when Maciolek (1985) synonymized part of her material of Minuspio cirrifera , but she did not give an explanation for the synonymy.
