Echiodon drummondii Thompson, 1837 View in CoL , was recorded firstly in the Mediterranean on the basis of a single specimen from the Adriatic Sea ( Arnold, 1956). Reconsideration of this record is necessary since no successive works, including the influential world-wide revision of ophidiiform fishes ( Nielsen et al., 1999), mention the Mediterranean as part of the geographical distribution of the species.
