Diasterope Kornicker, 1975 View in CoL
Diasterope Poulsen, 1965: 345 View in CoL [nomen nudum; without type species] Diasterope Kornicker, 1975: 388 View in CoL [designated type species]
Type species: Diasterope pilosa Poulsen, 1965 by original designation Kornicker, 1975.
Remarks.— Poulsen (1965) erected this genus for four new species but did not designate a type species. Kornicker (1975) designated the type species as Diasterope pilosa Poulsen, 1965 and in doing so validated the genus name. There are nine species, including the new species described here. The genus is diagnosed by the unique combination of characters: first antenna sseta with configuration 1+6, first antenna dseta absent, mandible eseta present, mandible exopod length greater than 50 percent of length of dorsal margin of endopod article 1. Specific differences are based on the number of dorsal setae on the third article of the first antenna, number of dorsal setae on the mandible basale, arrangement of setae on the maxilla, and number of setae on the seventh limb.
