Etymology. This species is devoted to Ned Kelly, a bushranger, outlaw and folk hero of Australia.

Description. Known from the female holotype only. Fore wing length 5.0 mm. Antenna broken. Mesoscutum with more or less even, dense punctuation. Scutellum with obvious punctures, smooth in-between. Mesopleuron with strong and rather dense punctures, smooth in-between; below subtegular ridge with parallel, diagonal carinulae. Metapleuron with juxacoxal carina distinct on part of the length, remainder indicated by rugae. Propodeal areas smooth with strong punctures. Hind coxa coriaceous and matt, with weak punctures. Hind femur length to width ratio 4.4, ventrally with a small tooth at most half as long as width of hind tibia at mid length. Hind tibia 1.9 mm. Second tergite 2.6 × longer than wide at base, covered with longitudinal carinulae. Ovipositor 1.9 × as long as hind tibia.

Colouration. Antenna basally orange, remainder brown or black. Face dark brown with orange inner eye margins and lighter orange on malar space. Clypeus light orange. Back of head dark brown. Mesoscutum dark brown with orange markings at base of notauli. Scutellum orange. Mesopleuron brown with an orange longitudinal stripe. Propodeum orange with dark areas basally and apically. Hind femur orange, with apex yellow. Hind tibia yellow with dark apex and subbasal mark. Fore wing hyaline with a dark apex. Tergite 1 orange at base, black or brown on remainder, tergite 2 dark with narrow orange apical band, tergites 3 onwards mostly orange, medially with dark markings.

Notes. This species is close to P. fourecksensis , but differs strongly in the colouration of the mesosoma.
