Represented by two specimens (31758 and 31759), on canopy soil (pH 3.6 and 3.8). This is one of the most commonly encountered myxomycetes in the forests of New Zealand but is uncommon to rare in comparable forests of the Northern Hemisphere. Trichia verrucosa usually fruits on decaying wood or dead bark. It was first reported from New Zealand by Colenso (1891).
