Deltoplastis aculeata Wang et Yu View in CoL , sp. nov.

( Figs 5 View FIGURES 1–8 , 13 View FIGURES 9–15 )

Type material. MALAYSIA: Holotype ♂, Mt. Trusmadi , Sabah, 1223 m, 7.II.2018, leg. Mujie Qi, slide No. YS 18033.

Paratypes. 3♂, same data as holotype, slide Nos. YS 18031, YS18032, YS18037 .

Description. Adult ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Wingspan 13.5–15.5 mm.

Head greyish brown, with erect orange-white scales laterally. Antenna with scape and basal half of flagellum dark brown on dorsal surface, white with a longitudinal dark brown line on ventral surface; distal half of flagellum pale yellow. Second segment of labial palpus thickened, dark brown, with rough scales ventrally, white at apex; third segment slender, longer than second, dark brown.

Thorax and tegula greyish brown. Forewing with costal margin almost straight, oblique downward from beyond basal 4/5; basal streak on costal margin dark brown, extremely short, not reaching 1/10 length of costal margin; ground color brown, markings dark brown: median patch trapezoidal, narrowed from dorsum to costal margin, its upper margin approximately 1/5 length of costal margin, lower margin approximately 2/5 length of dorsum, inner margin oblique inward, outer margin straight, edged with yellow scales; discocellular stigma clavate, dilated anteriorly, edged with yellow scales; subterminal patch trapezoidal, its inner margin about half length of outer margin, outer margin reaching both costal margin and dorsum, edged with orange-white line; narrow dark brown stripe extending from below discocellular stigma oblique downward to dorsum; terminal zone greyish brown; black line from beyond subterminal patch along costal margin through termen to tornus, edged with orangewhite along inner margin; apex triangularly produced, acute; termen shallowly concave below apex; fringe yellowish brown, paler terminally, with orange-yellow basal line. Hindwing greyish yellow, with dense yellowish brown scales along veins; apex obtuse; fringe greyish brown, with orange-yellow basal line. Foreleg with femur yellowish brown, tibia brown, with two white spots dorsally at middle and apex; midleg with femur yellow, tibia white with two dark brown bands at base and near apex; hindleg with femur brown, tibia yellow on inner surface, brown on outer surface, outer surface with long hair-like scales and a yellow band near apex; all tarsi yellow except 1 st tarsus brown dorsally at middle, 2 nd and 3 rd tarsi brown dorsally at base.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 9–15 ). Uncus elongate triangular, concave on anterior margin medially, curved ventrad apically. Gnathos with median process sub-trapezoidal in basal half, sharply narrowed and bent ventrad beyond middle, slender distally, pointed apically. Valva broad at base, abruptly narrowed to middle; costa deeply and broadly concave from beyond base; ventral margin with a small notch at middle; sacculus broad at base, narrowed to before the notch; cucullus triangular, densely setose, obtusely rounded at lower corner, outer margin obtuse. Juxta shield-shaped, with a small process on anterior margin medially; lateral process arising from posterior 1/3, elongate, digitate, approximately half length of juxta, densely spinulate, obtuse and setose apically. Vinculum narrow, banded. Aedeagus approximately as long as valva, broad at base, narrowed to obtuse apex, ventral margin concave from base; cornuti consisting of several large needle-like spines, a spatulate sclerite, and numerous differently sized granules.

Female unknown.

Diagnosis. This new species can be distinguished from its congeners by the forewing with a trapezoidal median patch anteriorly occupying 1/5 length of the costal margin, whereas the sub-triangular median patch anteriorly not reaching the costal margin or narrowly reaching the costal margin by a point in other species. This species is similar to D. causidica ( Meyrick, 1910) in the male genitalia, but it can be distinguished from the latter by the juxta with densely spinulated, relatively large lateral processes; whereas the smooth juxta has smaller lateral processes in D. causidica .

Distribution. Malaysia (Sabah).

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin aculeatus, referring to the lateral processes of the juxta densely spinulate in the male genitalia.
