The adult males of the species can be easily identified based on the shape of the dark, well chitinized aedeagal lobe bearing 2–3 stout spines medially ( Fig. 1 A View FIGURE 1. A , B). The species was described and illustrated in Pagast (1947) and Serra-Tosio (1970). Diamesa dampfi was collected in cold springs above 1000 m of altitude ( Rossaro & Lencioni 2015a, b).
