Determination features: head without ventral pso; dorsal pso as 3,4/4,6,6/9−10,10−11,9−10,9+1,8.
Orophylous species, troglo-mountainous ( Deharveng & Gouze, 1984). It appears as an epigean at high altitudes (2400m); at low altitude, it is found as a troglophilous. It was described from the French Eastern Pyrenees. In the Iberian Peninsula it has been cited in a cave in Portugal ( Gama 1962 as O. gr. argus ), and in numerous localities in the Basque Country, mainly in caves ( Bonet 1931, Stach 1934, Jordana & Beruete 1983 as O. cantabricus, Arbea & Jordana 1991 , Jordana et al. 1997, Beruete 2000a, 2000b, Beruete et al. 2002 as O. argus , and Arbea 2018 as D. argus ), being the most frequent Onychiuridae species in the caves of the Basque bio-speleological district, where it has been found in a large number of different habitats: puddles, gours, decomposing plant remains, guano, sheep droppings, etc.
