Sertularia notabilis Fraser, 1947 View in CoL

(fig. 6J–K)

Sertularia notabilis Fraser, 1947: 11 View in CoL , pl. 2 fig. 5.— Migotto & Vervoort, 1998: 89, figs 1–14.

Material examined. Stn. 7: 25.03.2008 —two small, sterile colonies, ca. 2 mm high, on algae.

Type locality. Tortuga Island, Haiti.

Remarks. Though sterile, the present material is readily recognizable due to the characteristic shape of the hydrothecae, the presence of 3 internal projections of perisarc (one abcauline and 2 latero-adcauline) just below the hydrothecal aperture, and the transverse nodes of the stem. For a recent, thorough redescription of this species, see Migotto & Vervoort (1998).

Distribution. Scattered records from the tropical western Atlantic: Caribbean ( Fraser 1947, present study), Brazil ( Migotto & Vervoort 1998).
