Material examined. Stn. 3: 26.01.2008 —numerous sterile stems, 2–4 mm high, on algae and stems of Pennaria disticha Goldfuss, 1820 .
Type locality. Gulf of Manaar, between India and Sri Lanka.
Remarks. The densely-striated hydrothecae make possible an easy identification of this peculiar species of Sertularia . A good, recent description of its trophosome and a thorough discussion of its synonymy are available in Migotto (1996). The gonotheca has been described by Vannucci Mendes (1946).
Distribution. Scattered records from warmer parts of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans ( Migotto 1996).
