Vespa esuriens Fabricius, 1787: 293 , “ India ” (København).
Vespa pediculata Olivier 1792: 671 , “Indes orientales” (type depository unknown). Eumenes boscii de Saussure 1855: 132 (manuscript name, as a synonym of E. esuriens ).
Material examined: Attock, 26.v.12, 1♂, 27.ix.12, 4♂, 29.ix.12, 2♂, 30.ix.12, 2♂; Rawalpindi, 02.ix.12, 1♀, 12.ix.12, 4♂; Islamabad, 19.ix.12, 1♀, 14.x.12, 2♂; Chakwal, 12.ix.12, 1♂.
Distribution. Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Iraq ( Srinivasan & Kumar 2010).
Comments. Collected specimens were compared with the published description of Delta esuriens Fabricius given by Bodlah et al. (2012). This species is distinguished by the apical yellow band on the petiole and thorax variegated with black and red color ( Figs 17 View FIGURE 17 a–b). It is reported for the first time from Chakwal, Punjab.
