( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 20, 21. 20 )
Vespa abdominalis Illiger, 1802: 192 , “ Bengalen ” (? Berlin).
Vespa transversa Fabricius, 1804: 257 , “ Tranquebar ” (København).
Rhygchium dichotomum de Saussure, 1852: 116, ♂, ♀, “Indes Orientales” (Paris).
Material examined. Rawalpindi, 13.ix.12, 2♀; Attock, 29.ix.12, 2♀.
Distribution. India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan (van der Vecht 1963, Dover & Rao 1922)
Comments. Specimens collected from Pakistan were compared with the published description of Anterhynchium abdominale Illiger given by van der Vecht (1963). This species is distinguished by the mesoscutum and scutellum densely punctate throughout. It is reported for the first time from Rawalpindi and Attock.
