Key to the Indomalayan species of Symplecis Förster, 1869

1. First flagellomere 7.5 × as long as wide; anterior portion of notauli strongly (deeply and widely) impressed; median lobe of mesoscutum with acute corners protruding antero-laterally; nervellus (CU+cu-a) intercepted at its lower third; hind femur 4.6 × as long as wide; face and mesopleuron reddish brown....................................... S. petiolata (Morley)

– First flagellomere 5.6 × as long as wide; anterior portion of notauli not strongly impressed; median lobe of mesoscutum without corners protruding antero-laterally ( Fig. 3E ); nervellus (CU+cu-a) not intercepted; hind femur 5.8 × as long as wide; face pale, mesopleuron yellow ( Figs 3A, E )...................................................
