Type locality: Guanabara (actually Rio de Janeiro city), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

[District] Federal | Brasil ”; (2) printed on white paper: “Fevereiro | 1939”; (3) printed on white paper: “Serviço Febre | Amarela | M. E. S., Bras. [Ministério da Educação e Saúde Pública do Brazil]”; (4) printed on white paper: “20. 228”; (5) handwritten on white paper: “ Messiasia ɗ | decor | (Ost. Sack, 1886) | d’Andretta, 1951 ”; (6) printed on red paper: “HOLOTIPO”; (7) printed on white paper: “ Messiasia | carioca , sp. n. | N. Papavero det.”.
Preservation: Pinned; right leg I pinned together with the specimen and right leg III mounted on slide; Missing parts: left tarsus of leg III.
